Somatic Mark Making

  • Dust Temple 54 Currumbin Creek Road Currumbin Waters, QLD, 4223 Australia (map)

Some things cannot be spoken. They need to move. They need color.

Somatic Mark Making is a newly created modality that bridges body based movement and intuitive art making to support emotional release, nervous system regulation and creative expression. This is not a traditional art class. There is no instruction, no technique, no right or wrong. This is an invitation to let your body lead, and let the marks follow.

Set to a specially curated soundtrack designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, spark creativity and open the body to feeling, you will be guided through a full sensory experience that moves from stillness into expression and back into rest.

How the session flows

Arriving and opening: We begin by slowing down. Through gentle grounding, breath and guided body awareness, you will be supported to arrive fully into the present moment and out of the noise of the day. This opening creates the safety your nervous system needs to soften and begin to express.

Somatic mark making: Large sheets of paper are rolled across the floor and a rich medium of art supplies including paints, markers, pencils, pastels and brushes are laid out for you to move with freely. Guided by music and gentle hands on movement cues, you will be invited to move your whole body across the paper, letting sensation, emotion and impulse translate into mark, colour and form. This is a collaborative and individual experience at once, sharing space and paper with others while staying deeply connected to your own inner landscape. There is no agenda here except to feel, move and release.

Closing and integration: We come back to stillness. This final space is for reflection, gentle sharing if desired, and integration of what moved through you. You will leave feeling regulated, lighter and reconnected to yourself.

All materials provided. Wear something comfortable you can move in and don't mind getting a little paint on. Come as you are.
